Abstract: The small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) with femtosecond laser involves creating an intrastromal lenticule by scanning at two different depth in the corneal stroma and making sidecut incisions, followed by separation and complete removal of the lenticule from the small incision. This technique revolutionizes the traditional refractive surgery to achieve "allinone", with better security, effectiveness, predictability and stability. It has a good prospect in application but its longterm efficacy needs more samples to be further investigated.
